GRS’s history began at Grodås, a small town in Hornindal, Norway, in 2010.
GRS established itself as a leading international brand that is recognized for innovation and exceptional products in the shooting and hunting industry. This development is characterized by curiosity, drive, and entrepreneurship.
The Legacy from our Parents.
The company Grodås Møbler AS (Grodås furniture AS) was started in 1983 by Oddvin and Anne-Lise Haugen (Håvard and Oscar’s parents) in the basement of their house. The business grew rapidly, and in 1985, they had to invest in a separate factory building to meet the market’s demand.
The company became well-known for its high-quality products.
Oddvin Haugen’s passion and the company’s smart and effective solutions became Grodås Møbler AS’s business model. Håvard and Oscar – their older children – worked in the factory almost daily after school, where they were taught young entrepreneurs’ fundamental skills. Oddvin’s passion was passed on to the next generation.
The Brothers behind GRS Riflestocks AS.
Both Håvard and Oscar shared an early passion for shooting and hunting. Håvard bought his first guns and ammo magazine in 1985 when he was just 11. Both brothers read eagerly about weapons and developed a focused interest in the firearms industry.
To this day, Oscar remains a passionate hunter and shooter, while Håvard tends to prefer shooting. “He was never bitten by the big game of hunting that afflicts me,” says Oscar with a grin.
After graduating from college, Håvard started working in the family company and, in the late 1990s, started working with CNC programming and machining. The newer CNC technology was a game-changer in the industry, opening up nearly limitless possibilities, and Håvar was a wizard in finding new avenues to create fantastic products.
Oscar started his military career in January 2000 with a mandatory year in the Norwegian Army. The day after this service ended, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he still serves today as the Company’s First Sergeant.
Oscar has always been an excellent shot, and he honed his skills in the military through sharpshooter and sniper classes and worked his way to being the Regiment QRF sniper instructor for the sniper teams.
He spent 10 years in the Army National Guard Quick Response Force as a team leader in the sniper teams, which gave him extensive shooting experience.
Oscar took over as CEO of Grodås Mønterteknologi in 2009 during the financial crisis. Business was tough, and we knew we had to find a new revenue stream because the furniture market was crashing.
Håvard and Oscar decided we should take our strengths, Håvard’s incredible skills at taking an idea into production, combined with the field experience and knowledge from years of training snipers from Oscar and his business skills. The result was GRS Riflestocks AS and the unique products.
GRS Riflestocks started delivering stocks in March 2010, and within a year, we were selling to 6 international countries. In 2024, we sell to over 40 countries around the world. Click on the logo below to go to the dealer locator.
